Above
Jetpack cats
An endless army of cat soldiers, airborne, armed with sonic missiles, and entirely unmoved by how well the run was going.
Ralph is a dachshund who can fly, for exactly as long as he keeps flapping. An endless army of jetpack cats would rather he didn't.
Every tap flaps Ralph's wings. Hold your finger down and he keeps climbing. Let go and gravity handles the rest.
Flapping drains a stamina meter. Run it dry and Ralph drops to the ground and runs there until it fills back up.
Missiles in the air, squirrels on the ground. The ground is not the safe option; it is just a different problem.
They're points. They are also, reliably, in the one place you were not planning to be.

Below
Squirrels riding warthogs, aimed at Ralph. This is the part where the stamina meter stops being an abstraction.
Dashing Ralph is free, and it doesn't end. Ralph just gets further, or he doesn't.
There's no story to finish and no last level to reach. You put it down when you feel like putting it down, and the cats are still there when you come back.
